Hemorrhoid Symptoms
One of the major symptoms of hemorrhoids is evidence blood during bowel movement. Blood from bleeding piles or hemorrhoids should be bright red in color. If your stool contains evidence of blood which is not fresh and bright red in color his could be a sign of a more serious condition and a physician should be contacted immediately for tests.
However as any piles sufferer will tell you dealing with bleeding hemorrhoids is part of everyday live.
There are two types of hemorrhoids:
- Internal Hemorrhoids.
- External Hemorrhoids.
Internal Hemorrhoids Symptoms:
Bleeding:
You might find bright red blood on toilet paper or on the surface of the stool. In severe cases bleeding can continue after defecating has finished and can stain underwear.
Itching:
Internal hemorrhoids sometimes have a mucus discharge which irritates the skin in the anal area causing itching which can be intense.
Skin Irritation:
If large internal hemorrhoids bulge out of the anus and excrete mucus onto the skin it can cause irritation.
Discomfort after defecating:
The presence of large bulging hemorrhoids in the anal cavity create a feeling that there is still a large quantity of stool left in the anal canal resulting in an urge to purge which is very uncomfortable.
Pain:
In general internal hemorrhoids are not painful. In cases where internal hemorrhoids become so large that they are squeezed out of the anal entrance and are constricted by the anal muscles which cut off blood flow extreme pain can occur.
Bleeding during bowel movements, itching, and rectal pain are the most common hemorrhoid symptoms. When severe pain is felt this could be a condition know as strangulated hemorrhoids and it would be wise to seek medical advice if this condition exists.
External Hemorrhoids Symptoms:
Pain:
External hemorrhoids can be very painful when they become enlarger and inflamed from blood build up. This condition is sometimes called thrombosed hemorrhoids or clotted hemorrhoids.
Blood:
External hemorrhoids can also exhibit a bright red blood on toilet paper and on stools.
